Date: 21.6.20 Source: ASSAF; The Garden Library

This June 2020 report examines the key educational issues and needs of children of asylum seekers in Israel, mostly in the municipal kindergartens and in the state-run elementary schools.

The information, data, and conclusions presented in this report are based on a series of interviews with teachers and with welfare and and health officials, as well as with professional staff working with children of asylum seekers, particularly in Tel Aviv. In addition, the report is based on years of experience that ASSAF Aid Organization for Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Israel, and the Garden Library organization, have gathered working with the asylum seeking community in Israel.

Following the report, ASSAF and the Garden Library issues briefings to asylum seeker parents describing the key issues and needs of the children in the pre-schools and schools, including our recommendations and suggestions to the parents.
